This short tour gives a taste of Western Ukraine’s diversity. Start in Lviv, soaking in its historic charm. Then head to the Carpathians for a day hike to Hoverla, Ukraine’s highest peak. Explore Tustan Fortress and visit castles in Uzhhorod and Mukachevo, each offering breathtaking views and a glimpse into the region’s turbulent past. End with a relaxing day in Uzhhorod, where the castle, pedestrian streets, and riverside cafés provide calm and reflection before departure. Daily Itinerary
Day 0 – Arrival

Lviv — Arrival

  • Meet guide at airport or train station

  • Transfer to hotel

  • Short evening walk in Lviv Old Town

Short place description: Historic city with Austro-Hungarian charm, UNESCO-listed old town, and vibrant café culture.


Day 1 – Lviv

City — Lviv (Heritage)

  • Walking tour of Old Town

  • Market squares, cathedrals, coffee culture

  • Optional small museums or free afternoon

Short place description: Architectural and cultural heart of Western Ukraine, rich in history and everyday life.


Day 2 – Hoverla Hike

Nature — Carpathians / Hoverla (Hike)

  • Early transfer to Hoverla base (~3–4 hours from Lviv)

  • Full-day hike to Hoverla (1,809 m), moderate level

  • Return to nearby accommodation

Short place description: Ukraine’s highest mountain, offering panoramic views, alpine meadows, and the Carpathian wilderness experience.

Day 3 – Stone Fortress & Travel to Zakarpattia

Historic Site — Tustan Fortress (Fortress)

  • Morning: Tustan Fortress (open-air rock complex, medieval trade post)

  • Afternoon: Transfer toward Zakarpattia, stopping in Mukachevo Castle (Palanok) if desired

  • Overnight near Uzhhorod or Mukachevo
